Second Family Fun Run Sunday 7 May 2006
Another outstanding success for the Freesia Group (raising money for cancer charities. On Sunday, 7th May, 2006, The Freesia Group, in collaboration with the local Town Hall, Tourist Office, local, regional and national businesses, celebrated its second Annual Family Fun Run in the capital of the Costa Daurada – the family holiday resort of Salou. There were 570 participants of all ages. Some even came in fancy dress and put the ‘fun’ into the run whilst raising money for a worthy cause. The setting couldn’t have been more perfect – golden beaches and a superb climate. In fact, a great day out for all the family.
Almost 13,000 euros were raised, which will be divided between the two cancer charities supported by the Freesia Group.

Every runner received a medal of outstanding quality depicting a local famous monument ‘The Fisherman’, a commemorative t-shirt, a gift bag containing products kindly donated by sponsors, and refreshments after the race. The winners of each category took home either a bronze statue of ‘The Fisherman’ or a commemorative cup, plus a bouquet of flowers.
Natalia Rodriguez, famous Spanish 1.500 metre runner, opened the event and presented the prizes to male runners whilst film and televison actor William Miller presented the trophies to the female participants. Wayne Goodman won the prize for the best fancy dress.
The aim of the Freesia Group is to raise money for two cancer charities in Spain : the AECC (Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer) and the CNIO (Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas).
